Taku Zen (Japanese: 禪院 / Zen’in Taku)
Born in 1982. Based in Tokyo, Japan.

Taku Zen encountered Zen after the loss of a close friend—at a time when he was nearly overwhelmed by grief and the busyness of modern life. Through breath, mindful walking, and silence, he rediscovered the essence of living, and has since cultivated a daily life rooted in Zen practice for over a decade. As a practitioner of everyday Zen, he shares the richness of Japan’s Zen culture—both within Japan and internationally—with a particular focus on making it accessible across cultural boundaries.

His work centers on bridging traditional Eastern wisdom with contemporary lifestyle.

Taku Zen has published extensively on the subject of Zen, including original works and translations. His writings have been translated into multiple languages, including English, German, and French—bringing the message of present-moment awareness to diverse global audiences. He lives between urban and natural environments, and actively leads zazen (seated meditation) sessions both in person and online.

For updates on recent activities, please visit his official website or follow him on social media (available in English).
